UltraSonophoresis

UltraSonophoresis is a non-invasive device used within a professional Ultraceuticals treatment to increases the absorption of skincare products applied to the skin.
The Ultra Sonophoresis treatment optimises the absorption of active ingredients into the skin using ultrasonic vibrations. Using Sonophoresis to infuse products from the Ultraceuticals range increases product absorption by several thousand fold giving intense absorption of the ingredients resulting in healthy, great looking skin

Why UltraSonophoresis Delivery System?
UltraSonophoresis delivery is undertaken using low frequency Sonophoresis. UltraSonophoresis application causes small spaces to open between the skins cells that result in an increased penetration of ingredients applied to the skin under the ultrasound. Disruption of the lipid barrier by the ultrasonic vibration also helps in the transdermal delivery. With each subsequent pass over the skin more spaces form allowing the skin to fill with active ingredients.

How does it work?
Little pockets or bubbles form within the intercellular lipids from the rapid vibration of the sound waves. These are filled with product before they quickly close again. With each pass over the skin with the spatula blade the next wave arrives pushing this bubble deeper into the skin layers. With each subsequent pass over the skin more spaces form allowing the skin to fill with active ingredients.

At what stage in the professional treatment is the UltraSonophoresis used?
The UltraSonophoresis machine can be used in two ways:
Ultra Clean Mode – provides a professional deep cleanse and superficial exfoliation. The ideal procedure performed in conjunction with cleansing in all skin treatments. Ultra Lead In Mode – increases product absorption by up to 1000 times and also increases skin circulation. UltraSonophoresis may be used as an additional treatment with peels or Microdermabrasion.

How should I prepare My Skin?
With all Ultraceuticals skin treatments it is preferred that a full skin care regimen is followed. This ensures that the maximum benefit of the treatment is achieved and that results are optimised. Please ensure you have had a customised skin care programme that has been prescribed by your skin specialist as the majority of results are achieved by homecare use.
If prescription strength retinol (Retinoic Acid) is being used or Ultraceuticals Ultra A Perfecting Serum, it is advisable to discontinue use 48hours prior to the treatment. This reduces the potential risk of increased down time.

What does it feel like?
During your treatment a generous amount of product is applied directly onto the skin. The UltraSonophoresis metal spatula is then moved slowly over the skin. A soft high-pitched sound may be audible. The physical sensation felt while undergoing UltraSonophoresis is one of warmth. Some skins may experience a milk pinkness that resolves quickly. Some clients may note 1-2 days of flaking with the use of higher strength products.
